随叫随到是一种非常贴心的服务，表示只要有需要，就能提供服务；在英语中通常用 available 来表示处于“准备好”的状态，但表示人有空时，不能千篇一律地用 available 来表示，因为在某些场合它有特殊的意义。
当 available 用来形容人时，在非正式场合中有时也可以表示某人处于单身或没有恋爱的状态，如 Nicola is available 不表示 Nicola 有空，此时这句话通常的意思是 Nicola 处于可以约会的状态，例如：
Do you think Nicola is available?

当要用 available 表达有空时，通常要在 available 后面接 for 或 to，或 available 直接置于名词之前，来表示有空做什么或谁有空等，例如：

若想避免使用 available 可能造成的释义盲区，我们还可以使用 be on call 来表示随叫随到；与 available 不同的是，be on call 通常用于紧急情况下人可以随叫随到，如医生或警察等，例如：
